The panoramic villages located on the first hill in Lerici
The Gulf of Poets, located in eastern Liguria, is dotted with typical villages that develop both in the coastal area such as Lerici, San Terenzo, Maralunga, Fiascheino and Tellaro and on the first hills such as La Serra, Pugliola and Solaro.
While on
the one hand the villages overlooking the sea allow faster access to
the beaches and cliffs, on the other hand the villages located on the
first hills offer breathtaking views with sea
views as far as the eye can see and
unforgettable sunsets.
La Serra is one
of the villages located in a hilly position, a few kilometers from
the center of Lerici. It is a very atmospheric place, with narrow
cobbled streets and colorful houses that climb the hill.
From La Serra you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Gulf of Poets and the surrounding mountains. The village has been carefully restored and still retains the authentic and rustic atmosphere of the ancient peasant communities. Among the main attractions of La Serra are the church of San Martino with its square with panoramic views and the bell tower with the clock, which dates back to the 12th century, and a medieval fortification which dominates the hill on which the village stands.
La Serra
is also a starting point for numerous excursions and treks along the
paths that cross the surrounding area. In particular, the path that
leads to Montemarcello,
another ancient hilltop village in the area, offers a breathtaking
panoramic view of the Ligurian coast.
The villages of Pugliola, located west of Lerici and La Serra, is surrounded by greenery and is an ancient and characteristic village where many tourists have decided to buy their own holiday home. Pugliola consists of a group of stone houses, arranged along narrow paved alleys and in its center is the parish church of San Giovanni Battista, dating back to the 17th century.
Located
at the entrance to the village is Villa
Rezzola, a historic
villa dating back to the 18th century
built in Baroque style. The recently restored villa is located in a
panoramic position, on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Poets, and has
a large park with secular trees, fountains and statues. Villa Rezzola
is an example of Baroque architecture and still retains many of the
original elements, such as the stucco decorations, the Ionic columns
and the large marble staircase. The villa was used as a summer
residence by noble and wealthy Italian and foreign lords, and hosted
famous people such as the actress Eleonora Duse.
Today
Villa Rezzola is open to the public thanks to the FAI
and offers the possibility of visiting its gardens and some of its
rooms, where it is possible to admire the original works of art and
furnishings.
Another
characteristic village in a hilly position is Solaro; suggestive and
peaceful, it is ideal for enjoying the beauty of the surrounding
nature and the panoramic view of the Gulf of Poets. It can be reached
both on foot and by car, through narrow streets that wind through the
olive groves and vineyards of the hill.
One of the main
points of interest in Solaro is the church of San Francesco, which
dates back to the 13th century and still has frescoes and ancient
works of art. The village is also a starting point for numerous walks
and excursions in the surrounding nature, including the path that
leads to the Montemarcello hill and the one for Lerici and San
Terenzo.
Solaro, La Serra and Pugliola are the ideal villages for those who want to buy a house with a sea view in Lerici in a place of peace and tranquillity, away from the chaos of the city and immersed in the beauty of nature.
